Biography
David J Bentley is an air transport researcher, analyst, consultant, writer and media commentator based in Manchester, UK and a graduate of Cranfield University’s Department of Air Transport.
Since 2000 David Bentley has written six management reports on the subject of airport privatisation. The most recent major report, World Airport Privatisation 2008 & Beyond, was self-published in September 2008. Previous reports on the subject were published by Euromoney Publications (London UK) and Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation (Sydney, Australia) and collectively have been purchased in over 100 countries. Other reports include, Airport Security – Paying the Price of Contemporary Terrorism (2003), Financing Emerging Airlines (2004) and Low Cost Airports & Terminals (2007). He has assisted with the preparation of airport marketing prospectuses for such airports as Oslo Torp (Norway), Klagenfurt (Austria), Rostock (Germany) and London Ashford.
Additionally, he has written articles for a wide range of magazines including Airfinance Journal, Airfinance Annual (all ‘country’ reviews 2006-09), Avmark Aviation Economist, Air Traffic Management magazine, Royal United Services Institute, Centre for Aviation, Daily Telegraph, Eurobusiness magazine, Airport World, Airports International, Global Airport Cities, Aviation Business Middle East, Routes Magazine, Speednews and AV News Latin America & Caribbean (a monthly column since 2004).
Commentary and interviews on aviation matters have recently been provided for, inter alia, CNN, Al Jazeera, Bloomberg, BBC World Service (TV and radio), BBC Radio Manchester/Look Northwest and other regions, Reuters Europe, Reuters India, Jane’s, London Evening Standard, the New York Times and International Herald Tribune, Newsweek, Crain’s Communications (US and UK), The Times, Sunday Telegraph, Monocle magazine, Public Works Executive (US), Business & Economy (India) and the Economist Intelligence Unit.
David Bentley is the UK & Ireland Associate with the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation, for whom he is Consulting Editor of the e-report Airport Investor Monthly, and contributes widely to their other reports, which now number 20 in total.
