Biography
Jo Caird is a freelance journalist, based in London. Her interests include travel, cinema, theatre, literature and learning foreign languages.
In her career as an arts journalist Jo has written on a broad range of issues related to the British arts scene, encompassing the worlds of theatre, cinema, literature, dance, music and visual art.
She has interviewed a number of leading theatre and cinema professionals including the actors Simon Russell Beale and Kenneth Cranham, directors Trevor Nunn, Will Tuckett and David Sington, and artistic director of the Pleasance, Anthony Alderson. Her work on theatre and cinema has appeared in publications including Times Online, the Independent Sunday Review and the Stage, the leading journal of the theatre industry, and she regularly reviews both film and theatre for a number of newspapers and online media sites.
Jo also writes on fiction and non-fiction literature, having had articles printed in the Sunday Times Culture, among other publications. She is a regular reviewer for the Daily Telegraph books pages and for Culture Wars, the online review of the Institute of Ideas.
In addition to arts journalism, Jo is a successful travel journalist, writing both features and city guides. Her work appears regularly in publications including Conde Nast Traveller, the Daily Telegraph, Italy Magazine and numerous inflight magazines.
Jo’s other published journalistic writing includes articles on volunteering and community issues. Her work appears regularly in the local London press and the Big Issue.
