Freelance for over twenty years, I know my craft and create imaginative and compelling copy. Today I write about walking, outdoor activities, travel, biodiversity and the environment; in books, periodicals and web based magazines. In addition to informative and descriptive features embracing architecture, history, heritage, people, culture and many more topics, I write technical reviews of clothing and equipment; and am working on the 3rd edition of my "Best Walks in Ireland" (Frances Lincoln) and some French and UK rambling guides. If you are seeking a feature from abroad, please know that I travel extensively and am regularly in various parts of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Wales, England, France, Spain, Norway, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Mauritius, Reunion and Rodrigues. I have homes in Ireland, England, SW France (Pyrenees) and Mauritius, and family accommdation in Wales (Snowdonia), Norway (Oslo and Jotuheim Mnts) and Rodrigues (Indian Ocean). |

Biography
As hungry as ever, inventive, creative and smart. Freelance most of my working life, formerly a specialist in industrial relations (1970-90's) and a technical and educatonal writer for private clients from 1990 to 2012; (tho' a Google search here doesn't seem to show anything!). I'm now well driven to write in the field of my own leisure interests. Outdoors, outdoor pursuits, travel and all things associated, from landscape to wildlife, from built environment to all things green. My new blog WalkingWithDavid.com and twitter handle (@BestWalks) launch this spring 2012.
I am a rambler, mountaineer, winter sportsman and sailor; my active voluntary membership of organizations like BirdWatch Ireland (education officer) and my engagement with a number of conservation projects means that I am now well qualified to write regular features on re-introduction programmes, conservation, biodiversity and our natural and built landscapes.
I have an MA and PhD for published works in industrial anthropolgy.
