Biography

I started my career at the TV arm of the Press Association in 1990, writing celebrity interviews, showbiz features, film guides and 'what's on' pages, for many national and regional newspapers. By the time I went freelance in 1993, I was Features Editor of PA's Howden-based operation.

Since then I've contributed to a variety of national and regional titles, including 25 Beautiful Homes, House Beautiful, Period Living, Coast, Uptown, Move or Improve, Home Building and Renovating, Build It, Empire and Total Film.

I've edited various lifestyle titles. I was Editor of Leeds Life for two years and City Magazine (published in Sheffield, Leeds and Manchester) for four years. I've edited Xscape Magazine, the publication for PY Gerbeau's extreme sports centres across the UK; and VQ Magazine, the glossy publication for the equally glossy Victoria Quarter in Leeds (home to Harvey Nichols).

I'm a monthly contributor to - and columnist for - Yorkshire Life. I've written property articles for The Times and the Daily Mirror and celebrity interviews and food features for a host of regionals and county mags.

I've branched out into copywriting for PR companies and large and small firms, producing flyers, brochures, websites - even radio commercials. I also write articles for a quarterly newsletter on behalf of UK Trade & Investment and the British Embassy's commercial section in Tokyo, and the UKTI website.
